Jenna Ellis, formerly an attorney for President Donald Trump’s campaign, has reached an agreement to assist Arizona prosecutors in their criminal cases against individuals accused of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, according to state Attorney General Kris Mayes.
In return for Ellis’s cooperation, prosecutors have dropped nine felony charges against her, including wire fraud, forgery, and conspiracy. This agreement aims to strengthen the case against the 17 remaining defendants.
“This agreement marks a major milestone in our ongoing investigation,” Mayes said in a statement. “I appreciate Ms. Ellis’s willingness to assist in our prosecution efforts.”
“Her insights are invaluable and will significantly aid the state in presenting its case in court,” Mayes continued. “As I stated when the initial charges were filed, I will not stand by while American democracy is threatened. Today’s development is a triumph for the rule of law.”
Among those still facing charges is Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who collaborated closely with Ellis in the unsuccessful attempt to overturn Trump’s electoral defeat to President Joe Biden.
Also indicted are Trump’s former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, attorneys John Eastman, Boris Epshteyn, Christina Bobb, and Mike Roman, who managed Trump’s 2020 campaign operations.
Additional defendants include Kelli Ward, Tyler Bowyer, Nancy Cottle, Jacob Hoffman, Anthony Kern, James Lamon, Robert Montgomery, Samuel Moorhead, Lorraine Pellegrino, Gregory Safsten, and Michael Ward.
